Dr. Kunimoto graduated from medical school at the University of British Columbia, received his Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology in 1988, and his FRCPC certification in 1989.

He founded the Vancouver General Hospital / UBC Wound Healing Clinic in 1990 and remains as it's director until the present time.

Dr. Kunimoto has been the Continuing Medical Education Director for the Department for Dermatology and Skin Science, and has successfully organized the yearly Spring Dermatology Update for the past 5 years.

He is a member of the Academic Promotions Committee for the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science.

Dr. Kunimoto teaches medical students, dermatology residents, and podiatry residents in the  Wound Healing Clinic, as well as, in his private office.

He is currently the Treasurer of the Canadian Dermatology Association.
