							Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a common skin condition that can cause extreme distress to sufferers because of its striking appearance. It is due to a loss of pigment in some areas of the skin leaving white patches.

Throughout the world, it affects at least one in every hundred people, equally affecting people of both sexes and all races . It can begin at any age, and tends to run in families. You cannot catch vitiligo, as it is not infectious. Occasionally people with vitiligo develop thyroid problems.

Although there is currently no cure for vitiligo, there are treatments available that often can slow down its progress and in some cases bring about complete re-pigmentation. If colour returns to the white patches, you may still lose the colour again at a later time.

The Skin Care Centre offers a specific Vitiligo Clinic that provides modern treatments used to treat Vitiligo.
