Psoriasis and Phototherapy Clinic Publishes Research On Daycare Treatment of Severe Psoriasis

Vancouver - October 1, 2008 - A research team at the Vancouver General Hospital Psoriasis and Phototherapy Clinic led by Dr. Youwen Zhou reported that an intense treatment program of ultraviolet light combined with topical tar and anthralin can achieve a signficant and often dramatic initial improvement in psoriasis within a two week time frame.

In order to sustain the treatment results patients must maintain the therapy after discharge from the daycare treatment centre.

This study was published in the October 2008 issue of the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery and the treatment effects were analyzed using the PASI scoring system.
