, UBC Dermatology Website, and Recognized by the Health on the Net Foundation

Geneva, Switzerland - March 18, 2008 - The UBC Department of Dermatology and Skin Science is pleased to announce that three of its websites -,, and - have all been accredited for being in full compliance with the Health On the Net Code of Conduct (HONcode).


The HONcode is administered by the Health on The Net Foundation, based in Geneva, Switzerland, and serves to recognize websites that provide quality medical and health information on the Internet.

To be accredited by the foundation, health websites must adhere to a strict set of 8 principles governing content, privacy, attribution, justifiability, transparency, and advertising. Sites are verified by the Foundation’s web teams and, if approved, join a select group of online health information providers.

Dr. Harvey Lui, Department Head, acknowledged the importance of external validation through the HONcode designation. “For the last two years we have been adding new sections, implementing new features, and making the website experience for our visitors as rich and reliable as possible. Part of this is offering principled and ethical content, and we are grateful to the Health on the Net Foundation for recognizing our efforts."
