Announcing the Opening of the New Vitiligo Clinic
In January 2006, The Vitiligo Clinic at the Skin Care Centre launched a new program offering Narrow-Band UVB light therapy for patients with vitiligo.
Vitiligo is a chronic disease of the skin characterized by loss of pigment of the skin due to the destruction of melanocytes (pigment producing cells). This clinic with a special interest in vitiligo treatment, education and research is the first of its kind in BC. It operates under the auspices of UBC Department of Dermatology and Skin Science and is overseen by Dermatologists Dr Harvey Lui, Dr Jerry Shapiro and Dr Youwen Zhou.
